DES GB2012 E

THE CENTERS Sustainable? We always have been! Excessively high consumption levels are iden- tified and remedied by comparing the manage- ment costs of all ECE-managed centers. District heating supply and green electricity reduce CO2 emissions. Rubbish collected in the centers is separated. The use of environmentally-friendly cleaning prod- ucts is even specified in the cleaning agreements. The performance and consumption of the heating, ventilation and cooling systems are continuously checked and adjusted dynamically to current requirements by means of modern, computer-assisted con- trol systems (DDC systems: direct digital control). Energy-saving lights, motion detectors and light intensities that change throughout the day all help to save electricity. Thirty minutes prior to closing, the center's cooling system is switched off in order to reduce its energy requirements. A frequency-based escalator control system saves energy.
