Galeria Baltycka Nominated to the ICSC Award

Galeria Baltycka is the only Polish shopping centre on the list of candidates to the prestigious award ICSC European Award 2009

 

Warsaw/Cannes, 21 November 2008 – Galeria Baltycka, as the only shopping centre in Poland, was nominated to the award ICSC European Awards 2009 (European Award of International Council of Shopping Centers), the most prestigious award in the branch of shopping centres. It received the nomination in the category of large premises. This year there were only 18 projects on the list of nominees, selected from almost 50 applications. The winners will be announced during the European Conference ICSC on 22nd - 24th April 2009 in Barcelona.

 

Galeria Baltycka was opened in Gdañsk in October 2008. It was realized by the ECE company with cooperation with Deutsche EuroShop AG. Galeria Ba³tycka is the most modern and the most elegant shopping centre in Gdañsk and the whole Tricity metropolis. Since the opening it has been visited by over 10 million people. Galeria Baltycka has a regional impact – it attracts potential customers from the whole Pomerania region, but also tourists and travellers. The visitors have at their disposal 200 shops and service points with the vast choice of fashion brands and variable products and services, starting from shopping in the supermarket to the rest in cosy cafes and activities in fitness club. The seaside landscape has been the source of inspiration for the architectural design of Galeria Baltycka. Galleria Baltycka is conveniently situated at Grunwaldzka Avenue, the main traffic route of the Tricity agglomeration, in the Gdañsk-Wrzeszcz district, with the convenient access by car, train and public transportation.

The ICSC European Awards, granted by the International Council of Shopping Centers, ICSC), are the most prestigious prizes in the shopping centre industry. It is given to the projects that excel in quality, innovative architecture and business efficiency. Last year Galeria Krakowska, opened by ECE in Krakow in 2006, was one of the prize-winners of ICSC Awards 2008 in the category of large premises. International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) is a global organization which unites about 75 thousand members from more than 80 countries: the specialists from the shopping centre branch but also the representatives of public authorities and science. Additional Information about Galeria Baltycka

The proximity of the sea has been the source of inspiration for the architectural design of Galeria Baltycka. Inside the maritime motifs have been used and the facades are fitted with natural materials: sandstone and glass. The spacious and bright interior, forming an irregular mall triangle with inner plazas, lots of natural light and the perfect arrangement of shops create the unique atmosphere of shopping in Galeria Ba³tycka. The almost 40 thousand square meters of shopping space house 200 shops.
