ss=fontstyle>
  • € 140 million investment creates over 1,500 jobs
  • 200 new retail outlets

Gdansk and the surrounding region's biggest shopping centre is now under starter's orders. On the 11th September, 2006, the foundation stone for Galeria Baltycka is being laid in Gdansk's district of Wrzeszcz, Poland. A modern shopping centre, with 200 retail outlets, covering an area of approximately 39,500 m², is to be built at the crossroads of the two trunk roads, Al. Grunwaldzka and Kosciuszki. Deutsche EuroShop AG and the ECE Group have invested 140 million Euro (550 million zloty) in this project, which will create over 1,500 new jobs.  'Our investment will act as a catalyst to growth for the entire region,' said Claus-Matthias Böge, CEO of Deutsche EuroShop.

90 % of units are already leased

Even now, one year before the shopping centre is due to open, approximately 90 percent of the units are already leased. Many of the retail outlets moving into the shopping centre are famous and popular names. Some examples of the prestigious stores opening are outlined in the below examples. Saturn is opening a large consumer electronics store. Famous retail chains such as Peek & Cloppenburg, Boss and Mango will be selling the latest fashions. There will also be children's fashions at Smyk, and the sports retail chain Intersport, is also opening a store at Galeria Baltycka. Douglas will be supplementing the wide range of fashion stores with its range of perfumery and body care products.

The shopping gallery is perfectly integrated into the existing road and public transport infrastructures. The Wrzeszcz train station is right next door to Galeria Baltycka, and there is also a big bus station close by. There are several tram and bus stops right outside the shopping centre. The Al. Grunwaldzka and Kosciuszki trunk roads cross outside the shopping centre, offering ideal access to the road network, and there are around 1,000 parking spaces for cars at the centre.

This excellent integration into the road and public transport infrastructure offers many advantages because over 1,1 million people live in the Galeria Baltycka's catchment area. They can travel to the shopping centre in less than 45 minutes. Tenants of the high specification offices that are also available at Galeria Baltycka will benefit from the shopping centre's excellent location. The modern design of the office units means they can be divided up flexibly into open-plan office zones, conference rooms or practices in accordance with the tenant's requirements
