  • Investment volume of 60 million euros

Wildau, April 5, 2011 – Premiere in Wildau near Berlin: the new shopping mall of the A10 Center on the southern Berlin motorway ring road housing more than 60 additional shops, cafés and restaurants will open its doors to the public at 8 a.m. on Wednesday, April 6, 2011. The modernized A10 Center will then boast a total of around 200 shops, cafés, restaurants and service outlets over a sales area of some 66,000 m2. The shopping gallery will provide jobs for over 1,000 people – 400 more jobs than prior to the modernization project. The investment volume for the new center section and the modernization of the existing complex is in the region of 60 million euros. The A10 Center first opened in 1996 and was taken over by Deutsche EuroShop at the beginning of last year, since when it has been managed by ECE, the European market leader in the shopping center segment. The A10 is one of the biggest and most well-known shopping centers in Berlin and Brandenburg.

The new center section will be officially opened on Wednesday morning (April 6, 2011, 8 a.m.) at a ribbon-cutting ceremony in the presence of Stephan Loge, County Commissioner of the Dahme-Spreewald District, Wildau Mayor Dr. Uwe Malich and center manager Lutz Heinicke.

Many new shop concepts

The new section and the modernization of the existing center, where step-by-step restructuring work will be ongoing up to autumn 2011, will make way for a totally new branch and tenant mix in the A10. The current anchors like Real, Karstadt sports, P&C, C&A, H&M, Esprit, MediMax and Bauhaus will now be supplemented by a wide range of new and interesting shop concepts. The ECE leasing strategy for the new mall section attached particular importance to attracting young, high-quality fashion outlets. The new tenants in the fashion segment include Tommy Hilfiger, Jack Wolfskin, Jack & Jones, Kookai, Mexx, Marc O’Polo, S.Oliver, Street One, Cecil, G-Star Raw, Bench and Zero. They are joined by a number of additional new specialist retailers like Tamaris (footwear), Triumph (lingerie), Rossmann (drugstore), Fielmann (optician), myToys (toys), Depot (furnishing accessories) and Blume 2000 (flowers) as well as a Nordsee seafood restaurant and an Eis Hennig ice-cream café.

Some of the tenants already operating in the A10 have considerably expanded their sales premises – including the Thalia bookstore, the Görtz footwear outlet, the Douglas perfume retailer, jewelry specialist Christ or optician Apollo.

Alongside the many retail outlets, the A10 also houses a wide range of leisure facilities such as a cinema (12 screens), a bowling center (32 lanes), a fitness center and a "Bambooland" for children.

Modern mall design

The modern interior of the new center section is nothing short of spectacular, with its elliptical entrance hall and two elegant malls featuring stylized motifs of some of the main sights in Berlin and Brandenburg. The modern mall concept is rounded off by an innovative color and lighting scheme as well as tastefully designed seating areas.

Around 4,000 parking spaces for visitors

The catchment area of the A10 Center, which will house more than 4,000 free parking spaces following completion of the expansion/modernization project, comprises a population of over 3.8 million. The new capital city airport "BBI" (Berlin Brandenburg International) is being built in the direct vicinity of the shopping complex.

Customer-friendliness and service

ECE lays great store by customer-friendliness and a high standard of service. Center manager Lutz Heinicke and his team organize a wide range of events, high-quality presentations, activities and exhibitions to ensure that every visit to the A10 is a visit to remember. The services offered at the A10 Center include a customer information desk in the mall, a customer lounge with Internet access, tourist information, buggy hire, center vouchers and a center newspaper.
